PTO Meeting Cancelled 

I apologize for the late notice;

 Due to conferences and other conflicts tomorrow nights PTO meeting is cancelled.

 Work has begun on Ornament night and we will get the information out to you all as soon as possible.

PTO Notes:  October 26, 2011

What are some of the barriers that prevent parents or other significant adults from being as involved with their child’s education / school functions as they would like?

Time: demands of work or other family commitments

            Suggestion: Combine evenings when possible

                              :  Offer community suppers in conjunction with events

Need for babysitting services

            Suggestion:  Offer babysitting for school functions (concerts et cetera)

Opportunities need to be advertised well in advance

            Suggestion:  Continue to advertise on web and via notices sent home.

Comfort Level:

I want to volunteer or be involved, but I’m not sure what would be expected for classroom volunteers et cetera

        Suggestion:  Trainings for various types of activities

Need reliable transportation

            Suggestions: Provide Transportation for some events

Activities Discussed – to be shared with staff to determine what supports would be needed for some of these events to take place:

Art Fair / Book Fair

Open Gym

Literacy Fair

Family Math Nights

After school activities for students

            Board Games

            Movies

            Dr. Seuss Night

Grandparents Day

Haunted Hallway (for next year)
